Did You Know?

The county seat of Brazos County, Bryan, Texas is named after William Joel Bryan, nephew of Stephen F. Austin, whose colony first settled in the area in the 1820s.  The town site is built on land that Bryan donated to the Houston and Texas Railroad Company in 1859, the same time that the company built a railroad running through the area.

The community incorporated as a city in 1871 and currently has a total area of over 43 square miles.
