Texas Home Sales down 2.1% in October 2015

Thanks to the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M, we have updated information with regard to the Texas Home Sales.

Texas home sales down 2.1 percent in October

November 24, 2015

COLLEGE STATION (Real Estate Center) – Latest Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data show Texas home sales last month were down 2.1 percent from a year ago while the median price was up 7.2 percent.

Home Sales:  According to October 2015 Texas MLS data (as of 11 a.m. today), 24,077 homes were sold last month about 500 fewer than a year ago and more than 2,000 fewer than in September.

The median price was $194,000 compared with $181,000 a year ago and $196,700 in September.

Months’ inventory was at 3.5 months. Real Estate Center economists consider 6.5 months a balanced market.

The College Station/Bryan Texas Real Estate Market remains healthy and vigorous.  September, October, and November are traditionally our slowest months because of the cyclical nature of the Texas A&M University located between the two cities.  But don’t blink!  50,000 parents of students will be looking for housing for their kids in the spring.  Beat the rush and give me a call today.  If you have kids who you think will be going to school in the area when they graduate, purchase at today’s prices and low interest rates and lease the property out until they come.  It makes sense.
