Lights on! Downtown Bryan

Friday, November 20th — starting at 6 pm

Come to Downtown Bryan for the annual Lighting of Downtown on November 20! There will be photos with Santa, a Frozen themed Bounce House, and a kids crafts on 26th Street next to the Palace Theater in Downtown Bryan! The Woman’s Club will be handing out their delicious cookies for free as well as hot chocolate!

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

December 3rd at 7 pm
George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

Join us as we light the George Bush Presidential Library Center’s Community Christmas Tree! Modeled after the tree lighting ceremony that takes place annually on the White House grounds, the ceremony begins at 7 p.m. and will include musical entertainment, a celebrity guest tree lighter and a public reception. Throughout the month, we encourage people to take their family pictures in front of the beautifully decorated, beautifully lit tree.

CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK: DEC. 4-6
By popular demand the City of College Station is saying goodbye to Christmas at the Creek and bringing back Christmas in the Park at Stephen C. Beachy Central Park. This fun-filled, family event will be Dec. 4 from 6-10 p.m., Dec. 5 from 12-9 p.m. and Dec. 6 from 6-10 p.m.

Daily activities will include a tour of the park on an old-fashioned hayride, free cookies and hot cocoa, and photos with Santa. On Saturday, Dec. 5 visitors can enjoy dance performances, inflatables, a petting zoo, giant snow slide and a Holiday Vendor Village with a variety of arts, crafts, jewelry, candles and more. Guests may bring their own refreshments, but coolers must be 48 quarts or smaller. Alcohol, glass containers and pets are not allowed. Food vendors will be available.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: DEC. 5
The Lincoln Recreation Center will host it’s Annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Enjoy a free hot breakfast, hosted in collaboration with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Activities will include: face painting, arts/crafts, coloring activities, entertainment and more. All participants ages 15 and under will receive a gift from Santa.

Family Friendly, Holiday, Special Events

Get into the holiday spirit with our annual Holidays in the Rotunda celebration Dec. 5 at the Bush Library and Museum! This free event takes place in front of the museum’s magnificently decorated 19-foot Christmas tree in the rotunda, and live entertainment and Santa’s workshop will get you in the yuletide spirit. Children will be able to make holiday ornaments in the classroom, while a variety of entertainers will keep things festive in the rotunda. There will be cookies, hot chocolate and punch served during the activities.

A Musical Celebration of Christmas

Please come enjoy an evening full of beautiful Christmas music to celebrate this special time of year.  Our event is free to the public and features vocal and instrumental performances by members of several local churches and the A&M Consolidated High Scholl vocal ensemble.  We also have a beautiful collection of nativity sets from around the world on display for all to see.  Light refreshments will be served following the musical event.  Hope to see you there!

St Mary’s in College Station is hosting its annual Work of Human Hands Sale.  The sale offers high-quality; fairly traded crafts and food produced by small-scale artisans and growers from around the world.  By purchasing beautiful handmade items at the Work of Human Hands Sale, you add meaning to your Christmas shopping by giving the producers and their families an opportunity for a better future.  This is not a fundraiser for the hosting church and all the proceeds go back to the people who produce the goods and to their community.

JINGLE BELL FUN RUN: DEC. 6
The College Station Parks & Recreation Department’s 26th Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run is set for Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1:15 p.m. and will be followed by the B/CS Christmas Parade. This two-mile run starts at the corner of University Drive and South College Avenue and ends at the corner of Texas Avenue and Villa Maria.

Holiday Pops Concert

Get into the holiday spirit! Bring the entire family to hear favorites such as “Silent Night” and “White Christmas”, participate in an old fashioned sing-along, and attend a cookie reception immediately following the concert hosted by the Friends Association of the Symphony Orchestra. This concert has become a signature Brazos Valley holiday tradition and will feature the outstanding BVSO Brass musicians, organist James Faith, The Sanctuary Choir and Canticle Bells of Christ United Methodist Church, and the CSHS Varsity Women’s Choir and more!  Visit Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra for tickets and more information.

The Second concert in the season is a wonderful way to usher in the holidays for you and your family.  Once, As I Remember will be the BVC’s presentation of the Nativity in song.  This program will include illuminating songs of prophecy and proclamation, songs of wonderful mystery, and songs of celebration.  We always like to invite the audience to join us in the singing of traditional Christmas carols, so make sure and bring your best singing voice!
