Brazos County, TX real estate is considered to be part of the Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Statistical Area, the 16th largest metropolitan area in Texas, which is home to about 190,000 people.

General Information

Brazos County, TX real estate might be located in any of Brazos County’s five cities and towns, including Bryan, College Station, Wixon Valley, Millican, and Kurten. Bryan is the County Seat of Brazos County, and is home to a population of about 68,000 people.  College Station, Bryan’s sister city, is home to about 83,000 and is the site of the main campus of Texas A&M University.

The University, which is the third largest public university in the nation, is truly the heart and soul of Brazos County. In fact, the county is affectionately referred to as “Aggieland,” as the students and alumni of Texas A&M are known as “Aggies.”  The University is Brazos County’s largest employer and the center of the county’s economy.  Many people who consider Brazos County, TX real estate are inclined to purchase because they are students, University employees, or they are otherwise affiliated with one of the many businesses that serve the university and its population.

What to Do in Brazos County

Owners of Brazos County, TX real estate will find a myriad of recreational activities, entertainment, and educational activities to occupy their time. Each of Brazos County’s unique communities offers a variety of diversion just waiting to be explored.

Bryan, Texas

The county seat of Bryan is home to a charming downtown district, where visitors and residents enjoy fine dining establishments, unique art galleries, and superb shopping.  The city is also home to the Brazos Valley African-American Museum, which gives special attention to the history of local African American families, churches and schools, and offers exhibits, performing arts programs, and workshops for people of all ages.

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History offers visitors the chance to view fossils, sculptures, farming equipment and other artifacts unique to the Brazos Valley.  The Carnegie Center of Brazos Valley History is the oldest Carnegie Library in Texas (built in 1903) and features a historical lab, an extensive collection of historical documents and periodicals, rare books and portraits, and extensive grounds that include a xeriscape garden.  Bryan is also home to the Children’s Museum of Brazos County, where families will find hands-on, interactive exhibits and playrooms for kids of all ages.

College Station, Texas

College Station is home to the main campus of Texas A&M University, and also to some of Brazos County’s best nightlife, shopping, and entertainment. In the city’s Northlake District, owners of Brazos County, TX real estate will find exciting live music at a variety of venues, and culinary establishments ranging from fine dining to Texas Barbeque to ethnic foods and everything in-between.  The Arts Council of Brazos Valley is located in College Station, and the organization manages the public art and sculpture generously displayed throughout the city and in neighboring Bryan.

On the campus of Texas A&M University, owners of Brazos County, TX real estate will find, among other popular attractions, the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, the J. Wayne Stark University Center Galleries, the MSC Forsythe Center Galleries, and the Sam Houston Sanders Corps of Cadet Center.  Also in College Station is the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, one of the most visited attractions in the county. The museum is dedicated to chronicling the life of former President George Herbert Walker Bush, and the library houses an extensive literary and historical collection.
