College Station TX MLS

The city of College Station is located in southeast central Texas in Brazos County, and is home to the main campus of the acclaimed Texas A&M University. College Station is truly a college town: the city actually grew up around the University, molding itself and its economy to the needs of the 45,000 “Aggies” who are enrolled here annually. As such, College Station offers its residents everything that a college town could offer: a thriving economy and business district, superior shopping, exciting nightlife and entertainment, and a highly educated and friendly population.

College Station is located in the heart of Brazos County, adjacent to the city of Bryan, which is the county seat and one of Brazos County’s oldest communities. The Bryan/College Station Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes both cities and land in three counties, is the sixteenth largest in Texas and is home to about 190,000 people.  College Station itself has just fewer than 83,000 residents.

A Great Place to Live

In 2006, College Station was rated by Money Magazine as the most highly educated city in Texas and the 11th most highly educated city in the nation, making it a great place to bring your existing business, or to start a new venture. In fact, the city was also ranked 19th in the nation and first in Texas on Forbes” list of Best Small Places for Businesses and Careers.  If you’re looking for commercial real estate, you’ll find plenty of properties listed on the College Station, TX MLS: the city is home to a number of business and professional parks, including the Business Center at College Station, the Spring Creek Corporate Campus, Crescent Pointe, and the Texas A&M University Research Park, which is currently home to several large international companies including Hewlett Packard.

Texas A&M University is College Station’s largest employer, with more than 30,000 people on its payroll, most of whom live in College Station or in its sister city, Bryan.  Many people who choose to relocate to College Station do so because of the opportunities afforded by the University. The city’s highly recognized school system is another major area employer, as is the St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

There are a number of factors besides the presence of Texas A&M University that make College Station an appealing place to live, work, and play.  The city has an exceptionally low crime rate, one of the lowest in Texas, thanks in part to the presence of campus security professionals in addition to the city’s police force.  There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation as well. The city maintains over 1,100 acres of parklands, green spaces and sports facilities within its borders, and there are a number of privately owned golf courses and recreation facilities in the area. The city’s schools are top-notch, and the College Station Independent School District is consistently ranked as one of Texas’s top ten school districts. A&M Consolidated High School was named one of America’s top 100 schools by Newsweek.
