College Station Local News

College Station, Texas is a friendly and charming city, located in Brazos County and nestled in the heart of the Brazos Valley. Home to the flagship campus of Texas A & M University, Bryan College Station is home to some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet, as well as some of the most educational and entertaining events for the whole family.

Keeping up with College Station local news will help you stay on top of most of the local events and activities; however, we would like to tell you about some of our favorites, as well:

  • Reading Discovery Featuring First Lady Barbara Bush. Join the former First Lady Barbara Bush in the excitement of reading a new book. Students from all over the world will be participating and asking questions through teleconferencing capabilities. Annenberg Presidential Conference Center and Online Learning. January 29, 2015.
  • Offshore Drilling: The Promise of Discovery. If you haven’t seen this exhibit at the George Bush Museum yet, be sure not to miss it. Learn more about George Bush, who was a pioneering and successful oilman, both on land and off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. Exhibit is open through February 1, 2015.
  • Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra presents “James Dick Unleashes the Emperor.” Join the Orchestra in welcoming James Dick, a pianist who will bring the powerful sound and notes of Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto to life in a way that only he could. Rudder Theatre at the Texas A & M campus. February 8, 2015.
  • Brazos Valley Senior Games. Adults ages 50+ can compete in various sporting activities, including track and field, swimming, basketball, cycling, horseshoes, archery, tennis, bowling, golf, and so much more! Locations vary. Occurring daily until February 22, 2015.
  • Celebrate President’s Day with George Washington. A historical impersonator of George Washington will be at Annenberg Presidential Conference Center and Online Learning to bring history to life and teach about the life and leadership of our nation’s first President. February 19, 2015.
  • First Friday. First Fridays are not to be missed in downtown Bryan! Experience the city and all it has to offer the first Friday of every month. Stroll through the streets of downtown and enjoy all of the shopping and dining options in downtown Bryan.
  • First Sunday Jazz Jam. Playing off of the popularity of First Friday, First Sunday is a weekly evening of jazz at Luigi’s Patio Ristorante.
  • Guys and Dolls. Don’t miss this cult classic romantic comedy at MSC OPAS! February 7, 2015.
  • Home Expo Bryan College Station. This event is in its 36th year, and isn’t to be missed. Be sure to check out the expo for anything you can think of for your home or garden! February 14, 2015.
  • Mic Check! Poetry Slam. Recurring monthly on the second Saturday, Mic Check! Poetry Slam is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the art of “slam” poetry. If you’ve never seen it, you’re missing out! Running through October 11, 2015.
  • Morgan and Sara Acoustic Show. For the music lovers, this one is not to be missed! Local country duo, Morgan and Sara, will be performing an acoustic show at Los Cunos on February 17, 2015.
